As part of my second year of DUT MMI, I had the opportunity to be once again Project Manager. With my team of 5 people forming the fictitious communication agency « Cacti’Com », we answered the call for tender of Mr. Karim ADOUANE. We were chosen to organize the sixth edition of the student short film festival: Toulon Tout Court.
For six months, we worked, in addition to our classes, to make this edition a success. This included:
PRINT communication: posters, flyers, category logos, diplomas for winners, etc.
WEB communication: new website (see WEB part), trailer, social networks animation, visuals, etc.
Searching for partnership (such as Pathé, which financed the 350€ price of the People’s Choice Award), a projection room, funding, etc.
Composition of a Jury of Professionals
Managing the administrative part of the Toulon Tout Court association.
On my side in addition to my role of project manager and treasurer, I was in charge of the whole organizational part of the festival (partnerhip, jury) and the website. I was able to learn how to manage a team, negotiate partnerships and seek grants.
The festival was a hugesuccess! We received a total of over 6 hours of short films and 100 people (a record) were present at the ceremony (the room was full). Our client was delighted and told us that we put on the best edition of the festival! The theater also congratulated us on our professionalism and the evening high quality.
In pair, we worked on the total redesign of the website of the festival. Indeed, the site no longer responded to the needs of the festival and the client wanted us to make a new version.
We then decided to build this new site usingWordPress in order to make future modifications easier and to allow future students to reuse the site without programming skills. The site is based on the festival’s graphic design to which we added a « vintage » touch. The main issue with the redesign, was adding an automated short film submission functionality (with a custom form and database). We also added the ability for users to vote for their favorite film directly online to nominate the People’s Choice Award (400 votes registered). A reservation system for the evening screening was added and worked very well: all seats were reserved.
